We Accept Sooner Care - We need a referral from your PCP first

When we think of “Sooners” we often think of our beloved college football team. While we certainly cheered them on this past season, this isn’t exactly what we’re talking about (sorry, sports fans); however, we are talking about something that’s just as important, if not more: your health; more specifically, the health of your skin. Here at Southside Dermatology & Skin Cancer Surgery Center in Tulsa, OK, our dermatologists Drs. Alison & Robert Fischer want to make sure that all you Sooners get the dermatology care you deserve. This is why we now accept SoonerCare.

What is SoonerCare? 

Simply put, SoonerCare is Medicaid for the state of Oklahoma. This health care coverage program offered by the federal and state government takes the burden off of paying most medical bills for individuals and families here in Tulsa, OK. If you are a resident of Oklahoma, a US citizen (or lawful permanent resident), and you meet income standards, then you too could be covered under SoonerCare.

What is covered under SoonerCare?

SoonerCare provides coverage for a wide range of health care services. This includes regular doctors’ visits, hospitalizations, chemotherapy, dental care, home health care, behavioral health, and even dermatology care. If you are dealing with skin problems that require the specialized care of our Tulsa, OK, dermatologist we will first need a referral from your primary care physician (PCP).

After your PCP performs an examination they can better determine if the skin, hair, or nail issues that you’re currently dealing with require an expert option from a dermatologist. Once the referral has been made, we can get you into our office for treatment.

What does SoonerCare cost? 

Qualifying residents of Oklahoma do not have to pay anything to get SoonerCare. Once you fill out your application online or go to your local DHS office to turn in your application, and they approve you based on income requirements, then you can start getting the medical care you and your family deserve without worrying about the cost.
